Water spinach, or locally known as Kangkong, is a semi-aquatic tropical plant that is a cornerstone of Southeast Asian cuisine.
It's loved for its mild, nutty flavor and its unique texture—crunchy hollow stems paired with tender green leaves.
These vegetables are commonly used in signature dishes in Malaysia and Singapore known as Sambal Belacan Kangkong, where it is tossed with spicy shrimp paste.
Kangkong is packed with essential nutrients such as Vitamin A (for vision and skin), Vitamin C (for immunity), and Vitamin K as well as high in iron, calcium, potassium, and magnesium.
It's packed at approximately 300g in weight.
